About choreograph create:

Choreograph Create is WPP’s omnichannel dynamic creative optimisation (DCO) platform, enabling users to align advertising content (e.g. images, videos, copy) with data (e.g. location) in real-time, turning one creative concept into thousands of unique ads. With Create, brands can deliver relevant content across all major media channels – including websites, TV and social media platforms. We utilise AI and ML to optimize campaigns towards the best performing content with no human intervention, providing valuable insight for advertisers. Users from across WPP utilise Create to optimize content for some of the world's leading brands.

 About this role:

We are looking for a delivery-focused Director of Engineering to develop and lead a high-performing engineering team through a period of exponential growth. You will be responsible for delivering a modern, large-scale SaaS product for the advertising industry – one part of a wider suite of Choreograph products. You will own the delivery of product commitments whilst always looking to improve the productivity of the engineering team, across all disciplines. You must coordinate across departments to accomplish collaborative goals, ensure the engineering team has a voice in leadership discussions and nurture and encourage a positive and productive engineering culture. The advertising and media landscape is exceptionally fast-paced, and our team must be adaptable.

Your mission will be to provide hands-on leadership, fostering a culture of cross-functional collaboration and efficient delivery of business value.

Responsibilities

-          Lead the development of a SaaS dynamic creative platform used by some of the world’s biggest brands.

-          Develop strategies and new initiatives to advance on an organizational and technical level both the department and the product.

-          Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of your department.

-          Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders across Choreograph and WPP.

-          Provide a consistent and successful interface between engineering, product management and product design.

-          Develop leadership skills within the organisation and mentor other leaders.

-          Development, measurement, and management of key metrics for your team and the products performance.

-          Drive high throughput.

-          Standardise the development process where needed.

-          Nurture a desirable and enviable engineering culture.

Requirements

-          Experience with advertising technology (AdTech) a must, with ad serving and dynamic creative (DCO) experience highly desired.

-          A demonstrated engineering leader, with experience leading a team through a period of considerable growth.

-          A well-developed people management philosophy for managers and engineers.

-          Experience leading a cross-functional engineering team of permanent staff and contractors.

-          Understanding of how to successfully manage a team that is mostly remote, with a willingness to spend time in the office collaborating with peers.

-          A strong understanding of business, business requirements and striking a balance between cost, speed, and quality in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

-          Deep understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, and project management principles.

-          An advocate of architecture/software design patterns and software development best practices, able to bring your own ideas and lead the team to success.

-          Good knowledge of cloud-based technologies, scalable architectures, and modern devops and sre practices.

-          Experience with functional programming, especially with Clojure/Script considered a bonus.
